Today, I was awoken by the chilly prairie winds and the sound of freight trains rumbling close-by. The hot fire and warm oatmeal were welcomed.
Back on the road – we stopped briefly in Swift Current, SK at old friend Tim’s for coffee, and then crossed into Alberta!
If Adam is reading this, we passed through Dunmore, AB … who would have thought.
Soon afterwards, we found ourselves Alberta Badlands – home to the famous Hoodoos! These guys are interesting formations, carved out of the rock by water and wind erosion.
In Rosedale, we crossed over the suspension bridge – a reconstruction of one that would carry miners across the Red Deer River.
Next, we motored over to the Horseshore Canyon. It was worth the drive – views of the canyon amidst the setting Sun were spectacular.
I marked my place in the canyon with an Inukshuk:
We settled for the night in Rosedale at 11 Bridges Campground. How we managed to stumble across the tenting area in pitched darkness is a complete mystery.
