Today, I was awoken by the chilly prairie winds and the sound of freight trains rumbling close-by.  The hot fire and warm oatmeal were welcomed.

Back on the road – we stopped briefly in Swift Current, SK at old friend Tim’s for coffee, and then crossed into Alberta!

If Adam is reading this, we passed through Dunmore, AB … who would have thought.

Soon afterwards, we found ourselves Alberta Badlands – home to the famous Hoodoos!  These guys are interesting formations, carved out of the rock by water and wind erosion.

In Rosedale, we crossed over the suspension bridge – a reconstruction of one that would carry miners across the Red Deer River.

Next, we motored over to the Horseshore Canyon.  It was worth the drive – views of the canyon amidst the setting Sun were spectacular.

We settled for the night in Rosedale at 11 Bridges Campground.  How we managed to stumble across the tenting area in pitched darkness is a complete mystery.
