Hi everyone!

My apologies for the delay – the last few days have been filled with action and adventure (as you will soon find) with no time left over for blogging.

Let me get you up to speed…

After speaking with other travelers at the campground, there was a general consensus that no visit to Drumheller would be complete without a stop at the Royal Tyrrell Museum.

The museum was awesome.  I was impressed by the fact that they have active paleontologists on staff, excavating for fossils in the regions.  I was in awe of the “Black Beauty” – one of the best-preserved fossils of a T-Rex in the world (definitely felt like a kid again).

After the museum, we continued to drive along Hwy 838, appropriately named the Dinosaur Trail.  The first place of note was the Horse Thief Canyon – legend has it that horses would disappear into the canyon and never return.  Spooky.

To cross the river, we took the slow-moving Bleriot ferry.

Down a non-descript dirt road, we discovered the Orkney Lookout.  It provided a great view of the river valley and capped our visit to the Badlands.

Next, we drove into the setting Sun to Calgary!  It was a good thing I had a great navigator since construction in the city was heavy.

In the end, we found Wild Rose Brewery where I met an old friend, Amy, for a pint.  The last time we came face-to-face was three years ago!  Time flies but friends stay true.

We stayed the night in the city at our friends’ house – Matt and James.  Apart from a very playful and snuggly kitten bouncing throughout, it was great to sleep in a bed for a change!
