Big day today.

I had to take care of some business in the morning: an oil change for the ol’ girl.  311,000 kms and still running strong!

Next, I eat lunch in Edgemont Village (North Van) at the Windsor Meat Co. (great spot for sandwiches!!)

I needed that meaty roasted-chicken sandwich since I was soon embarking on a trek up the famous Grouse Mountain by foot!  I was hoping for the fog to lift by the time I got up.  This is what I saw:

Lululemon gave me some personal words of encouragement just before I started the climb.  How thoughtful of them.

And up I went…

Luck was on my side today, because as I looked down upon Vancouver, this is what I saw.  Nice.

And at the top of Grouse, I was surprised to find some cool little attractions!

First, I walked into the middle of a raptor show, with talons swooshing overhead!

Act I: a harrier hawk: DSCN0955

Act II: a turkey vulture:DSCN0962

Act III: a peregrine falcon (my favourite type of bird) named “Spitfire”: DSCN0988

I also saw a raven (these guys are huge!!):

And a stellar jay (I’ve seen many across BC):

And a grizzly bear in captivity:

I spent a lot more time up there than I expected, but animals are interesting and worth the time!

Also in North Van was a lesser-known park and suspension bridge.

After having this FREE bridge all to my lonesome, I decided to skip Caplilano.  The experience was good enough for me!

The trails were cool too – it felt as if I was walking through Jurassic Park.

Cool enough to get me to build another Inukshuk beside the gushing rapids.

Thanks for the recommendation Amy :).

For dinner, a white dragon roll from Haru Sushi – something I’d been craving all week.
