Eager to continue surfing, I got up early, rented a board and strapped it to my roof.
I surfed at Cox Bay, which is a 10 minute drive from town. Although I don’t have photo-documentation, trust me when I say that the waves were great.
Fixed myself a little a picnic for lunch…. This ham-tomato-and-avocado pita is dedicated to Stephen G.
Now, onward to the next adventure! I registered as a guest with the Lone Cone Hostel and soon found myself barreling toward Meares Island on a water-taxi.
Lone Cone is located on the island and was only recently opened in July 2015!
Here’s what I saw when I approached the island… Lone Cone Mountain. As soon as it emerged out of the mist, I said to myself, “I’m climbing that.” (Stay tuned)
I was welcomed to the hostel by friendly staff and a local wild cow.
I was immediately impressed by the hostel – clean, warm and filled with other fellow travelers from around the world. There was great atmosphere in the lounge, with a fire blazing in the fireplace and us clasping hot mugs of tea as talked about our travels.
