Right after breakfast, I took a walk downtown to pay for a parking ticket (oops) and to check out a cool vintage clothing store called “The Patch” (check it out: http://www.thepatchclothing.com/).
Afterwards, I drove up to another one of Victoria’s natural attractions: Mount Doug, or Pkols (the Native name). I hiked up the South Ridge Trail to reach the summit. I was greeted by a spectacular view of Victoria:
Not a cloud in the sky…
Mount Baker, in Washington, USA, was also visible in the distance:
Still hungry for adventure, I got back in the car and drove North to Goldstream Provincial Park, 15 km outside of Victoria.
Crossing the highway through a dark and creepy tunnel,
I came across Niagara Falls (for all my friends from Ontario… I was as confused as you are now).
Continuing along the trail, I came to the main event: The Goldstream Trestle.
OF COURSE I walked across the bridge, despite my mild fear of heights!
There wasn’t much to hang onto. The 4-inch spaces between the ties did not help alleviate my apprehension…
Polished off the evening by visiting Canada’s mighty Pacific Naval Fleet in Victoria.
AND getting Nanaimo Bars with Kate and Sandy at The Market on Yates (no photo evidence… they disappeared too rapidly).
