I’m still in the beautiful city of Vancouver!
This morning, I met up with a new friend, Xavier. He and I had met two weeks ago while hiking up Lone Cone Mountain in Tofino. We had coffee at Breka Cafe and talked about our past travels. It was cool to meet again in Van – me, as a traveler and he as a Master’s student!
Manraj and I stayed in the apartment for lunch. I cooked us a mean turkey stir fry. According to this photo, I added some green peppers.
After shopping and cruising around downtown, we bought tickets for a show at the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF).
We watched “Mountains May Depart”, a Chinese drama about love and loss and loneliness. There was a smooth transition from Chinese dialogue and English subtitles in the first half of the movie to a fully-English dialogue in the second half. It was a great film and culturally-expressive, even though it left the audience with a feeling of melancholy.
