I was awoken by Frankie the cat clambering over my tired body.
Sara, on the other hand, was not affected and quite enjoyed Frankie’s company.
Here’s a picture of me booking my plane ticket home (with Frankie’s help, of course).
In the afternoon, Sara and I took the C-Train downtown to meet up with my friend Amy.
We had the most amazing Vietnamese subs at Thi Thi. For those of you visiting Calgary: Go get a Sate Chicken sub at Thi Thi! You will not regret it.
After lunch, Amy guided us through downtown Calgary, directing our attention to cool stuff, such as the Wonderland sculpture.
We also checked out the Devonian Gardens, an indoor botanical garden, complete with ponds, Koi fish and a grand piano. Giving in to peer-pressure, I tried my hand at playing a tune. After failing miserably, I handed over the keyboard to Amy, who showed us how it’s done.
Back at James and Matt’s place, we had some work to do: empty out the car, box-up my tenting and camping gear, and pack our bags in preparation for our flight home in the morning.
After that was done, James helped us fill out the paperwork as we sold Karla to Ben for parts.
I gave one final hug to Karla, thanking her for getting me this far safely. I couldn’t have done it without her. We shared many kilometers and memories along this great journey. She’ll be missed.
The final odometer reading – about 9000 km more than when I left Essex on September 2nd.
