Remember that family of caribou that was on the road yesterday? … Well they decided to have a little sleep-over in the campground. Needless to say, we had some company in the morning.
To Kate’s relief, we did not see any bears (yet…).
After breakfast we had a long drive ahead of us – 230 km south, from the Whistlers campground to Lake Louise. The journey was lengthened by construction. On the bright side, it allowed us to get out, stretch our legs and have a look at the waterfall in Tangle Creek at the side of the road.
Ahh the famous Lake Louise. Judging by the kilometer-long lines of parked cars, packed parking lots and hordes of tourists, we knew that this was something before we even arrived.
And Lake Louise did not disappoint. This glacial lake sparkled like a giant sapphire in the mid-afternoon Sun and is framed by two magestic peak (no wonder we saw so selfie-sticks).
Next stop: Yoho National Park!
BUT not before crossing into British Columbia!
We arrived at our campsite in Kicking Horse Campground in Yoho and met up with our good friends James and Matt. They wasted no time in taking us to Takkakkaw Falls – the second highest in all of Canada.
We then went for a short hike to see the “Angel’s Staircase”:
And then continued down a path-less-traveled to find (in my opinion) the most beautiful waterfall of all. I’m going to reveal the name – you’ll just have to go and find it for yourself ;).
Matt got the fire roaring and James played the role of Master Chef.
I, on the other hand, was busy inventing a refrigeration system for the beer. Materials: beer, an onion bag, a rope and a gushing river filled with silty glacial-runoff. (No, they didn’t float downstream, and YES, the beers were cold by dinnertime).

Cool (pun intended!) invention! 🙂
