Kate and I cooked bacon and eggs for breakfast, while reminiscing about cereal sessions and other Holy Name memories. We then said our goodbyes and I traveled two blocks to downtown Victoria.
Nice place from what I saw. Beautiful Parliament buildings:
Cool hotels like the Fairmont Empress:
Walking into the Empress, I was determined to have “High Tea” in honour of my mom. BUT apparently it’s a like bit more sophisticated than walking into the tea room and ordering a cup of Earl Gray. I quickly learned that you need a reservation and $63 of pocket change. Sorry mom. Next time.
I left Victoria feeling like there was still more to see (e.g., Canada’s oldest Chinatown). But I head move on… to TOFINO!
I headed North up the Trans Canada, but it took me longer than expected to reach my first checkpoint, mostly because I kept pulling over to look at stuff like this:
Of course, once I got to Nanaimo, I had to eat a Nanaimo down at the waterfront. I had to!!!
Since it was getting dark, so I chose Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park as a place to rest for the night. I met a whole manner of interesting creatures including a teenage buck 5 feet from the car and this little guy:
Other than that, it was an awesome campground!

So glad you got to see Kate E!
