Today is the day!
Not a cloud was in the sky,and it was therefore time to conquer Lone Cone!!!
So up I went…
In the first stage, I meandered through a lush, old-growth temperate rainforest with massive red cedars.
You don’t see in the pictures, but the path was MUDDY and my legs were caked within a kilometer.
The trail was a ton of fun to navigate – plenty of logs to swing under or tip-toe across, and many steep muddy slopes that had me reaching for roots heave myself upward.
After hiking about an hour and 10 minutes, the forest started to thin. One last jog to the right, a weave through some trees, and I walked right into this:
The view was simply phenomenal. At that moment, I was glad that I waited on the island for two days to get “the view.”

As a cloud floats by…
It’s a view that I will definitely come back for.
